Newgrange is an ancient site built back in the Stone Age - over 5000 years ago which makes it one of the world’s oldest and most significant prehistoric sites. Newgrange is known for its architecture, featuring a large, circular mound surrounded by 97 massive stones, decorated with ancient carvings. At the heart of the site is its passage and chamber, perfectly aligned with the winter solstice. Each year, on the shortest day, sunlight floods the inner chamber, producing a stunning natural light display. Access to the Newgrange monument is via the Brú Na Bóinne Visitors Centre.
